What Customers Say
Antonio's loyalists -- and there are many who have been returning faithfully for 20 or 30 years -- speak of it with genuine affection, praising its consistency, the balcony view of Lake Lily at sunset, and dishes like the veal Marsala, pappardelle with braised meat ragu, and lobster ravioli as perennial favorites. The warmth of the staff and the gracious hosting style are mentioned frequently, and many guests describe it as the kind of restaurant that makes every occasion feel special without pretension or formality. Some reviewers note that standards can occasionally vary between visits, and the restaurant's popularity means weekend reservations should be made several days in advance.
What Local Experts Say
Antonio's 35-plus-year run in Maitland is a story of earned longevity in an industry that rarely rewards it. Owner Greg Gentile's commitment to quality, from the scratch kitchen upstairs to the imported goods in the downstairs market, has built a dual-concept operation that is truly one of a kind in the Orlando metro area. Food critic Scott Joseph has written about it warmly across multiple decades -- a form of endorsement that speaks more clearly than any single award.
About Antonio’s
Antonio's in Maitland is one of Central Florida's most enduring culinary institutions, a two-story Italian landmark overlooking Lake Lily that has been welcoming guests since 1989. Founded by Greg Gentile and operated with unwavering dedication across more than three decades, the restaurant offers two distinct experiences under one roof: a lively deli, wine shop, and casual market on the ground floor, and an upstairs fine-dining ristorante where linen tablecloths, candlelight, and a balcony with lake views set a distinctly romantic stage. The upstairs menu reflects the depth of a mature kitchen confident in the Italian canon -- artichoke hearts stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in prosciutto, pappardelle with a thick braised meat ragu, veal tenderloin medallions in marsala, an oakwood rotisserie chicken basted with rosemary and garlic, and a rigorous wine list stocked with Italian and American selections. Executive Chef Patrick Tramontana leads the kitchen with precision. The downstairs market carries imported Italian goods, cut-to-order meats and cheeses, prepared foods to go, and a wine shop where guests may select a bottle and bring it upstairs with a modest corkage fee. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 7 PM.
